Every year, ​Puget Sound Revels hosts seasonal celebrations that are rooted in agrarian traditions from the Wheel of the Year. Due to the tilt of the earth's axis, the length of day in the northern and southern hemispheres changes throughout the year. The winter solstice marks a hemisphere's shortest day of the year and the summer solstice marks the longest, while the equinoxes mark an equal amount of night and day, symbolizing balance and harmony. From the exuberant revelry of the summer solstice, when the sun reaches its zenith and the earth is brimming with life, to the introspective darkness of the winter solstice with promise of light on the horizon, we seek to infuse our festivities with the spirit of nature's renewal and transformation. Our celebrations connect participants to the timeless wisdom of agrarian traditions and also inspire a sense of awe and reverence for the world's cyclical beauty.
